| Why obtain a Travel Authorization while it is voluntary to apply? |
|

- By being approved to travel to the United States, you will know that your passport details are cross checked against a number of U.S. databases without any findings. However, an approved Travel Authorization does not guaranty entry to the United States.
- If you travel to the United States but are denied entry, you will never be able to enter the United States on the Visa Waiver Program again. You must then apply for a B-1 Visitor Visa or B-2 Tourist Visa and pay the necessary visa processing fees.

| What is the Visa Waiver Program? |
|
The Visa Waiver Program currently consists of 36 countries that enables citizens with a machine readable or ePassport to visit the United States for up to 90 days without applying for a tourist or business visa in advance. Until now Visa Waiver travelers simply present their machine readable passport to the border agents for admission to the United States. With the new Electronic System for Travel Authorization all Visa Waiver travelers must pre-register their U.S. visit and be approved to travel to the United States. A Travel Authorization is valid for 2 years at the time.
